Born in Saint Michael and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados, Rihanna auditioned for American record producer Evan Rogers who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After joining Def Jam in 2005, she quickly gained attention with the release of her album debuts, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006) and A Girl Like Me (2006), both of which were inspired by Caribbean music and reached the top 10 of the US Billboard 200 chart. Rihanna's third album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) included elements of dance-pop , and established her place as a sexual symbol in the music industry. Rihanna won her first Grammy Award for "Umbrella" the chart-topping track that propelled Rihanna into global stardom. Her subsequent studio albums, Rated R (2010), Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), continued her blend of R&B and pop. Unapologetic (2012) was her first Billboard 200 top-ten album. A number of chart-topping singles came out from the albums including "Rude Boy", ("Only Girl in the world")" and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We Discovered Love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". Anti (2016)", her eighth studio album was her debut album since she left Def Jam. It was her second US top album and included the top-charting single "Work". Rihanna has collaborated with many artists in her music career. This includes Jay-Z and Kanye West, Jay-Z, Jay-Z, Kanye Ne-Yo, Jay-Z and Shakira. With sales of over 250 million albums worldwide, Rihanna is the second-best-selling female musician ever. She has scored a number-one and has 31 top ten hits in the US and also a top ten artist in the UK with 30 entries. Nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards including the Icon Award, 12 Billboard Music Awards in addition to six Guinness World Records and the NAACP's President's Award are just a number of her accomplishments. Time identified her as one of the top 100 influential people on the planet in 2012, 2017 and 2018. Forbes listed her as among the top ten most-paid stars for 2012 and 2014.
