Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is also a seasoned public speech writer. She founded Feminist Frequency which is a website that features videos and comments analyzing the portrayals of females in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource dedicated to education, which examines women's roles in pop culture narratives was the result of her research. Additionally, she serves as the director of operations. In her efforts to break down stereotypes of women that exist in pop culture, she has also been working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and different classes of individuals on the internet. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the field of political and social thought from York University. As a public speaker, she is well-known and has been a speaker at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. When she was still in school, in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency Website. This ambitious woman planned to start an internet-based series on gender representation in games, but was the target of an online harassment campaign. It was not enough to halt her. In fact, it strengthened her commitment to being a feminist and a media critic. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards to recognize her significant contributions to the world of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media critic. She was also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organization that explores pop culture depictions of women.
